Georges Bemberg (September 30, 1915 – July 17, 2011) was an Argentine art collector and patron.
From a wealthy family of German origin, Georges Bemberg spent his childhood between Argentina and Paris. After studying at Harvard University and after having been a student of the pianist Nadia Boulanger, he began writing and published L'Innocence américaine ou le mythe d'Abel with sagittarius in 1948, then Quatre mains with the editions of the Round Table. It is a collection of paintings, works of art and books.
The hotel of Assézat hosts in particular the museum of the Bemberg Foundation. In 1994, Georges Bemberg lent the municipality for 99 years the remarkable collection he had assembled (1,100 works divided between paintings, sculptures and works of art) in order to make it accessible to the public. Among the objects exhibited, painting and drawing occupy a privileged place, with for example a unique set of more than thirty paintings by Pierre Bonnard and works by great painters of the different European schools of painting, from the xvth to the xxth century (Canaletto, Tiepolo, Francois Boucher, Cranach the Elder, Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto, Antoine van Dyck, Claude Monet, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin, Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Amedeo Modigliani...).
